Sour Thai Seafood Soup with Veggies


– 3 cups water
– 8 oz fresh white fish fillets
– 4 oz fresh shrimp
– 12 oz straw mushrooms
– 1/2 cup each sliced daikon, sliced green papaya, sliced green beans, and cauliflower florets
– 3/4 cup sliced Chinese cabbage
– 1/4 cup Tamarind juice
– 2 tbs lime juice
– 1 tbs dark brown sugar
– 1 tsp salt
– 3 dried chilies, seeded and soaked in water till soft
– 2 tsp each chopped garlic and shallots
– 1 tsp chopped krachai


– Bring a pot of water to a boil and boil seafood 8 minutes.
– Remove with a slotted spoon, reserving stock, and let cool.
– Chop and set aside.
– Grind chlies and next 4 ingredients together and place in a pan with stock, fish, and veggies.
– Bring to a boil and let cook 10 minutes.
– Add remaining ingredients and serve hot with shrimp.
